For Josh and Bronwyn Howe of Nourish Organic Marketplace, having one POS provider that supports both hardware and software was essential for a seamless store relocation.
Fitting out a new retail store is stressful, expensive, and time consuming. Trying to move an existing store in to a new space whilst trading is an even bigger challenge. Josh and Bronwyn leant on Univex to help them achieve this feat.
Background
Nourish Organic Marketplace is a popular health food outlet in Sydney managed by Josh and Bronwyn Howe. They operate shops in Gymea and Cronulla. Staff are passionate about helping others enjoy a healthier life. Both locations are open 7 days a week and, at times, very busy. There is a strong sense of community amongst customers who value the wide range of products available and friendly service.
The Move
Nourish Cronulla needed to relocate to a new retail space. The old store needed to remain fully operational during the relocation. Customers would continue shopping at the old store right up until the doors of the new store were open and ready to trade.
Back in 2020 Nourish switched their POS, inventory, and reporting software to Univex. For this relocation Josh and Bronwyn leaned on Univex to create a solution to ensure business continuity. That required Univex staff to provisioning the hardware and software in the new store ready for opening day without taking anything out of the old store or reducing its capacity to serve customers.
The Solution
In addition to retail software, Univex also supplies and supports speciality POS equipment and consumables to customers across Australia and New Zealand. General IT support and advice is also included in support and service plans. This meant Josh only had to work with one business get IT systems set up, not one for software, one for hardware, one for consulting and onsite service, and so on.
For example, Univex researched and recommended a suitable Internet Service Provider for the new store. This saves Nourish hundreds of dollars a year and provides a connection four times faster than before.
With regards to the new store’s POS hardware Univex supplied all the specialised equipment that a food-based retailer needs: scales, scanners, touch screens, customer displays, and more. Hardware was tested in house and shipped up well ahead of the planned cutover date. Univex staff visited Sydney to perform an onsite installation – a service many software providers simply don’t offer. Temporary POS lanes were created, ready to run for the grand opening. Josh and Bronwyn were able to concentrate on existing operations and other fit-out tasks without having to juggle technical tasks such as plugging in and configuring new systems themselves.
Unexpectedly, just before opening day, a screen failed at the new store. This required a replacement quicker than what the manufacturer could provide. In response, Univex voluntarily arrived onsite, replaced the screen, and re-tested all the equipment. This replacement and travel were at Univex’s expense. We stand by our product and will do everything possible to create a successful outcome.
Today
The new Nourish Organic Marketplace store at Cronulla is a roaring success. The hardware is performing well, and Univex is going the extra mile in finding ways to speeding things up to further improve the customer experience for Nourish Organic Marketplace.
For small business operators such as Josh on Bronwyn they rely on Univex to deliver a total IT solution for their business including hardware, software, and service.
